History of the Alapaha Lodge

 

Patches

Alapaha Lodge 545 was first chartered in 1960.  The original flap is shown below.

 

The next lodge flaps issued by Alapaha Lodge depicted a bow and an arrow.  The border color varied between green, white, and brown, but the central design remained the same up to the 1990s.  The flap below was from 1972 and depicts the bow and arrow theme.

 

During the 1990s, the lodge flap consisted of a sunburst design with an eagle and the bow and arrow from patches released in earlier decades.  The three arrows along the edge of the patch represent ordeal, brotherhood, and vigil.  As with the previous patch set, the border varied between red, blue, white, and yellow.

 

In 2005, our current lodge flap was introduced depicting an Indian in a canoe on the crooked river, which in the lodge totem.

 

Recently, Alapaha celebrated its 50th Anniversary and issued a limited edition patch reminiscent of the original flap from 1960. The 50th Anniversary Commemorative patch is shown below.
